Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake

The minute this video popped up on my social media feed, I knew I had to make it!

Of course, I didn’t use a box of brownie mix – that would have been a cardinal sin! Instead I used a recipe for chocolate brownie cake from BBC Good Food. It smelled so delicious when it was baking that it almost didn’t make it to the cheesecake stage!

As it was meant to be a birthday cake, I piped a little message on the top with some melted white chocolate, too.

It was rich, but because I used dark chocolate in the cake and the ganache, it wasn’t sickeningly sweet. Definitely a recipe to remember!

Black Forest Gateau Pots

Well, this week Mr Chef found mascarpone cheese on offer at the supermarket, so of course he bought more mascarpone cheese than any family has a right to eat. He made a (delicious) cheesecake and I decided to whip up some individual black forest gateau pots.

I tried a recipe that used grated beetroot for the cake, and it was lovely and moist. I layered it with a mascarpone and double cream mixture, and topped each pot with cherries and grated dark chocolate.

I made three of these pots, but in fairness the quantities would have done for six smaller ones. I need to remember that not everyone can stomach as much gateau as me at one sitting!
